FW 190F-8 crashed at Fliegerhorst Grove 5/5 1945.


The aircraft belonged to I./ SG 151  and was coded ?
T/o Grove   Op: Flight to Germany.


A number of German planes left Fliegerhorst Grove on the morning of 5/5 heading back home to Germany. Unteroffizier Ottmar Geissler took of in his FW 190F-8 and was giving a farewell show when he crashed on the Fliegerhorst.

Unteroffizier Ottmar Geissler died in the crash and rest at Grove cemetery.

 
It should be remembered that the German capitulation in Holland, Northern Germany and Denmark took place at 08:00 hrs on the morning of 5/5 1945.
