Bf 109G-6 Werk 412160 crashed near Skørping 10/11-1944

The aircraft belonged to 3./JG 102 and was coded RX+KV  
T/O Aalborg West. Op: Training.

 

Feldwebel Arthur Appelt took off from Fliegerhorst Aalborg West for a training flight.

At 10:40 hrs the aircraft got into a flat spin and crashed between Rold and Skørping, about 20 kilometers south of Aalborg.

Arthur Appelt died and was laid to rest in Frederikshavn cemetery on 21/11-1944 at 11:00 hrs.

Note: A witness tells that the pilot bailed out but died when he landed in a tree.
