Bf 110G-4 serial number 740201 crashed near Ans 18/6 1944.


The aircraft belonged to 11./ NJG 1 and was coded G9+DY.
T/o Grove. Op: Training flight.


Somewhere around five o`clock in the afternoon Pilot Unteroffizier Werner Hempel lost control of his aircraft due to pilot error and crashed in a field belonging to a farm at Ansvej 20 near Ans.

Hempel was thrown clear of the the aircarft when it hit the ground but died. The aircraft burned and was a total loss. The Wop had managed to get out of the Bf 110 and saved his life by parachute.

Unteroffizier Werner Hempel was laid to rest in Fourfelt cemetery, Esbjerg on 22/6 1944.
