Bf 109G-5 serial number 27099 crashed by Fonnesbæk 21/5 1944.


The aircraft belonged to 10./ JG 11 and was coded White 18.
T/o Aalborg Ost. Op: Interception of Day Rangers.


When Aalborg was hit by Day Rangers consisting of two Mosquitos of 418 Squadron RCAF and 8 Mustangs of 19 Squadron Unteroffizier Wolfgang Schröder-Barkhausen took off in Bf 109G-5 coded White 18 and chased them south and caught up with the Rangers southeast of Herning. He attacked very aggressivly and collided with Mustang FX999 piloted by F/Lt Bird at 16:40 hours. The two aircrafts fell to the ground killing both pilots.

Schröder-Barkhausen was laid to rest in Esbjerg cemetery on 23/5 1944.
