FW 58 shot down near Blaavand 13/4 1944.


The aircraft belonged to IV/Fliegerzielgeschwader 1 and was coded ?
T/o ?. Op: Target flying.


The FW 58 flying target for flak in the Blaavand area at 16:00 hrs when it was attacked and shot down by a Mosquito piloted by W/C John Braham.

The FW 58 crashed in the sea near the shore about 1 kilometres southeast of Blaavand radio station. Two of the crew were unharmed while Otto Frölich was wounded.

The Mosquito had flown low and had not been seen on the radar. When the flak noticed the aircraft, it was too late as the guns were not loaded due to the target practicing.
