Bf 109 serial number 2619 crashed at Fliegerplatz Esbjerg 26/2 1942.


The aircraft belonged to 4./ Jagdfliegerschule 4 and was coded ?
T/o Esbjerg. Op: Training.


Student Pilot Leutnant Gerd Pomy had just taken off from Fliegerplatz Esbjerg in Bf 109 serial number 2619 for landing practise when the engine stopped.
He tried to turn the aircraft back towards the airfield for landing but the aircraft stalled during the manoeuvre and crashed to the ground in the northern part of the field.
 
Gerd Pomy was severely injured and was taken to the hospital, where he died in the evening.
He was laid to rest in Esbjerg Fovrfelt cemetery on 2/3 1942.

The aircraft was 95% damaged.
