Bf 109E damaged at Einsatzhafen Rom 8/4 1941.


The aircraft belonged to Stab/ JG 1and was coded ?
T/o Jever. Op: Flight to Rom.


The Commander of JG 1 Oberstleutnant Carl Schumacher was on a flight from Jever to Rom followed by two Bf 110 of 4./ ZG 76 piloted by Leutnant Heiner Froehling and Martin Drewes.

Just after landing at Rom the Bf 109 stood on its nose due to a soggy landing ground. The Commander was unharmed.
