Beaufighter Ic T4729 crashed North Sea 8/8 1943.


The aircraft belonged to RAF 2OTU Coastal Command.
T/O Catfoss. OP: Training.


The aircraft is believed to have crashed into the North Sea killing both crew members.

The body of Pilot Sgt Eric Havenhand was found in the sea 8 kilometres east of Lille Skagen on 8/10 and was laid to rest in Frederikshavn cemetery on 16/10 1943.

Navigator Sgt Sidney Albert Bertie has no known grave and is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
